NOT TUBAL LIGATION, IT'S CASTRATION IN DOGS
One important project of the Rabies Control Program in Isabela is the control of the fast growing dog population. This is to lessen the number of dogs especially the stray dogs or "asong gala" that are the culprit in the spread of rabies in the barangays.
To operationalize the project, the Provincial Veterinary Office formed a team of veterinarians assisted by technical men and women of the office to conduct castration of dogs during the scheduled vaccination against rabies in the barangays. In the onset, the barangay folks are quite hesitant about the project, but realizing the good effect of castration in the control of the deadly rabies, many are now having their dogs undergo this process of sterilization. In fact, last February 20, 2014 the team have castrated 23 dogs in barangay San Pedro- San Pablo, Aurora Isabela.
Words of caution: the Provincial Veterinarian advised the team "Maging mapili sa asong kakapunin. Iwanan yung mga maamo at magandang klase. Mahirap kaya ang mawalan ng guwapong asawa. Ganyan din ang saloobin ng babaeng aso".
